Build your castle and crush the enemy in Siegecraft Commander Prelude: VR Edition

Siegecraft Commander Prelude : VR Edition (Siegecraft VR for short) is a tower defence strategy and base-building game with a virtual reality interface. Each player is responsible for building and gradually expanding a castle, with the goal of eventually taking over the map. In addition, however, they also man the artillery housed in their fortress, making this game an unusual combination of base-building strategy and Angry-Birds-style cannon game.

War on the virtual tabletop

Siegecraft Commander Prelude : VR Edition takes a simple approach to its VR interface: it's essentially a virtual board game, although you can zoom in to get closer to the tabletop than any real player would. On that tabletop, you have to place different structures as part of your castle. You can place these buildings anywhere you like, but they are all connected by walls, so you need to think ahead: is this wall going to obstruct future construction? To complicate things further, towers in Siegecraft VR are like nodes in a network. If the enemy destroys a building, all the structures connected to the main base by it will also be destroyed. The combination means that you have to plan your building carefully under the pressure of combat.

An imperfect but interesting hybrid

Siegecraft Commander Prelude : VR Edition is a genre hybrid, which is both a strength and weakness. Still, if you like strategy games and don't mind doing some shooting, check Siegecraft VR out
